Treatment for migraines without drugs!
If you have migraines, then you know how bad they can be.
It’s estimated that around 1 in 10 people in the UK have had a migraine, and aver 180,000 are suffered every day. It’s safe to say, you aren’t alone.
What are migraines?
Migraines are an intense type of headache that cause other symptoms such as
- sensitivity to light and sound
They can last from anywhere within a few hours, up to several days.
Whilst most people can’t put a finger on why they get a migraine, some people have found things such as chocolate, caffeine, stress, alcohol, heat/cold and other environmental factors can trigger their migraines, but since there are such a breadth of stressors all around us, often it is difficult to narrow down what the trigger is.
Standard medical treatments for migraines
Mostly, drugs are used. Over the Counter (OTC) drugs such as paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin are used sometimes. Other times Doctors prescribe powerful drugs that are anti-depressants to patients who don’t get any luck with OTC drugs.
The downside with using these drugs is that people then replace intense headaches with the feeling of lethargy, tiredness or as some of my patients tell me ‘like a zombie’ feeling.
self-help for migraines
Removing the stressor would be option 1, but if you can’t find it then trying to reduce certain aspects of your life to see if there is any meaningful impact would help identify if there is a trigger.
Other things such as natural oils like lavender (it relaxes muscles) have been found to help a little.
Meditation has been shown on a small level to help with the incidence of migraine too, but the research is a bit sketchy to say the least.
If that fails, what next?
Although migraines can be improved by doing the above bits of advice, there may be more underlying problems that simple exercises or massage cannot help.
That’s why at Shield Clinic we run a thorough and comprehensive set of exams focusing on the cause of migraines, not just trying to treat the symptoms.
We use a mixture of computerised scans, including posture analysis and nerve scans which can help us detect underlying problems, long before they become a bad symptom.
The treatment we deliver is highly focused on the problems we find during the examination so we can target specific joints/tissues and make sure your body heals itself as fast as possible.
Normally, our consultation costs £95, but if you sign up today you can get it for just £29.
All you need to do is to fill out the form below and we will do the rest.
